As rumored , Meghan's first confrontation with her father, after all these years, may be in a courtroom. Thomas Markle is thought to end up testifying against her in legal battles over the treatment of the Duchess in the UK.
Meghan filed a lawsuit last year against Mail on Sunday alleging that she had illegally published a letter she wrote to her father.
But court documents filed by the paper reveal that Meghan's father, Thomas Markle, is also part of their defense.
At the moment, it is still unclear if he will testify if the case reaches court, but documents show that the Duchess of Sussex's father has cooperated with the defense, making her a potential witness.
However Samantha Markle, Thomas' daughter from the first marriage, told the BBC: "If called, it will come."
The Mail on Sunday newspaper will argue that there was a "great and legitimate" public interest in royal family members and "their personal relationships".
The documents reveal that Mail on Sunday will use numerous evidence, including the argument that Meghan's father "had the right to show his version of the relationship with his daughter."
As a result, Meghan and Thomas Markle may end up in litigation facing each other after years of rumors about their relationship.
So far, Mail on Sunday and Sussex jurors have not commented.
