Monica Vega, a Colombian woman, gave birth to a girl whose twin fetus grew inside her womb. Hmm, wait what ?!
Simply put: It is known as the "festus-in-fetus" case, which happens rarely and is thought to affect one in 500,000 births.
Initially the doctors thought the fetus had cyst in the liver, but things changed when Monica visited a high-risk pregnancy specialist.
The doctor realized that what was believed to be cyst was actually the other fetus, also known as the "parasitic twin".
After the week of 37, Vega brought to life a 7 kg baby girl named Itzamara through the Caesarean birth. A day later, the newborn underwent an operation to remove the twin-fetus.
Fortunately, mother and daughter enjoy full health.
