Days ago, Instagram (and not only) was acquainted with the latest initiative of Albanians. To "capture" Liam Neeson - the main character of the "Taken" movie, to get to know another Albania, which is quite different from what the world remembers at "Marko from Tropoja".

First of all, we're back to the movie. With Pierre Morell and French actor Luc Besson's screenplay, Taken (2008) had tremendous success for years, as history continued to be followed by two other productions: Taken 2 and Taken 3, to be said there was no glitter of the first and the second, being praised by critics as " the same, but differently ".
If you've forgotten the subject of the movie, remember it briefly:
In the movie, the daughter of former secret agent Bryan (Liam Neeson) and her friend are kidnapped during a trip to France by an Albanian criminal organization dealing with trafficking in women. All the story begins here and follows with Bryan's efforts to save the daughter alive from the hands of Albanian traffickers.
Today, after more than a decade, famous figures of Albanian art, politics and visuals came together to realize this video message so that actor Liam Neeson comes to our country and to see with his eyes the truth of Albania .
But should we remember that Neeson, despite the fame and "bondage" that he created with the Albanians through this film, at the end of the day remains merely the actor selected to play Bryan's role? Just as anyone else could fit the character the screenwriter had created in his mind.

As mentioned above, the film was written by the very famous French writer Luc Besson, after which some of the most successful cinematic films include: Subway (1985), Nikita (1990), Léon: The Professional, or Lucy .

So the concept, idea, perception, and all that comes next in the (Taken) scenario is created by him! It is he who in his mind perceived Albanians as traffickers, gangsters or dangerous. And obviously it was not the only one.

With a simple logic, this video message had to be drawn to attract Besson and not Liam's attention, which is currently working on new projects to emerge during 2019 and 2020. Despite the fact that the public is closely linked to his character, he is not an actor to be "snatched" to overthrow the steriotype that has accompanied our country for decades.
However, let's not forget that we are neither the first nor the last one to love without wanting to be "biased" or labeled with names that we do not belong to. We know very well that every place has historically been associated with steriotypes that people may have created from a movie or a repeat scandal that has made media fuss.

People, for example, seeing "The Godfather," perceived that Italy and the Italians are what we see in the film: Sicily and the world full of mafia, but we all know that's not the case. Although the initiative aims to change the way the world sees Albania, the invitation should be addressed to others, such perceptions have existed and will always exist.
