A recent survey reveals the gender gap related to cooking at home and confirms once again the fact that it is women around the world who cook more meals than men.
Women cook an average of nine meals a week, while men cook about four times a week. These are the results of an annual survey by Gallup (polling company) and Cookpad (food technology company), which tracked the meals people cook and eat at home around the world.
It appears that the gender gap varies across countries. In the United States, women cook an average of about two more meals per week than men. The survey report charts the countries with the biggest gender gaps, including Ethiopia, Egypt, Nepal and Yemen, where women make about eight more meals a week than men.
In this report, what stands out is the ranking of Albania, where women cook 7.8 more meals than men, and in the top list of 10 countries with significant gender differences in cooking, our country ranks seventh.
Countries with the smallest gender differences in cooking are clustered in Europe, including Spain, Great Britain, Switzerland, France and Ireland. But there is only one place where men cook more than women. This country is Italy!
The reasons why in Italy it is men who cook more and thus have reduced the gender difference in this matter are still not clear, but the survey best proves this fact. Perhaps Italian men are more passionate about cooking.
