
Legendary singer Connie Francis has died at the age of 87
Connie Francis, best known for her 1960s hits "Pretty Little Baby" (1962) and "Everybody's Somebody's Fool" (1961), has died at the age of 87. Her manager confirmed the news.
"It is with a broken heart and deep sadness that I announce the passing of my dear friend, Connie Francis, last night," wrote her music rights and revenue manager, Ron Roberts.
"I know Connie would want her fans to be the first to receive this sad news," he added.
The song "Pretty Little Baby" has experienced a strong comeback in recent years, going viral on TikTok. Francis joined the platform shortly after the song's sudden success, which has been used in over 17 million videos, with more than 27 billion views worldwide.
“I am amazed and thrilled by the extraordinary attention my 1962 song 'Pretty Little Baby' is receiving,” Francis said recently. “To think that a song I recorded 63 years ago is inspiring a new generation is something that leaves me speechless.”
"Pretty Little Baby" was released on the 1962 album Connie Francis Sings "Second Hand Love" & Other Hits , which peaked at number 111 on the then-current Billboard Top LPs chart.
In May of this year, the song entered Spotify's global and US charts for the first time.
Connie Francis was born Concetta Rosa Maria Franconero on December 12, 1937, in Newark, New Jersey. During her lifetime, she is estimated to have sold over 200 million records worldwide.
