Famous shoe designer Sergio Rossi has passed away at the age of 84. A few days ago, Rossi was hospitalized in Casena, a city in Emilia-Romagna, one of the most affected areas of Covid-19 in Italy. It is reported that the designer may have died as a result of coronavirus.
The brand's chief executive, Richard Sciutto, told Daily News: "He was a master. It was a great pleasure to meet him. He has been our spiritual leader and is today more than ever. ?
Sergio Rossi's shoes were worn by Azzedine Alaïa, Versace, Dolce & Gabbana and worn by popular names, from Lupita Nyong to Rihanna, from Paris Hilton to Laura Dern.
After learning his father's shoe-making craft, Rossi began selling his models in Bologna in 1966, before creating his own brand in 1968.
In 1999, the brand was sold to Guçi Group, now known as Kering, one of the largest conglomerates in the world of luxury fashion. Then, in 2015, it was sold to Investindustrial, an investment company.
Last month, Rossi donated 100,000 euros to the Saco Hospital in Milan to help fight the coronavirus.
