After the protest of public transport workers, came the first reaction made by the Ministry of Infrastructure. They called the protesters' statements "confusing" and said, among other things, that the reopening of the sector was no longer in their hands. Now, another decision regarding the resumption of this service will be taken by the Committee of Experts assessing the following situation of Covid-19 in the country.
"The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy wants to clarify to the public that, in the conditions of the health emergency situation in the country, the opening of public transport is not in the right of either the MEI and much less of the transport companies, but only of the Technical Committee of Experts. , as the Albanian Government estimates that the life and health of citizens is worth more than any other interest.
The Technical Committee of Experts has decided to postpone the opening of Public Transport by a week, as a high-risk service in this epidemiological situation, due to the increase in the number of cases of COVID-19. "- said in an official communication.
Addressing the issue of reopening of this sector, which is one of the biggest interests of the citizens, the Ministry of Infrastructure, said that other important decisions have been taken, which are in line with the demands of the protesters, such as:
"1-Recognition as a deductible expense of 100% of oil consumption, from 43% that was until today, with an effect of about $ 7 million on the state budget;
2- Removal of all local taxes and fees for public transport entities, until December 31, 2020. ?
