People all over India are looking to know why the 50,000-year-old Lonar Lake has all turned pink! Experts believe that this change may be related to increased salt levels in the water, the presence of algae, or a combination of both, but they are still not safe.
Geologists say such a phenomenon has occurred before, but it was not. This time, the lake has taken on a strong pink color, turning into a very famous tourist attraction.
It is thought that with increasing salt level, the lake water has been reduced and consequently and given the presence of red algae, the color has changed.
However, scientists have begun research to find out exactly what changes the color of a lake. The lake is located 500 kilometers east of Mumbai, created after hitting a meteorite on Earth about 50,000 years ago. For humans it is a very popular place to visit due to the myths that have historically accompanied the area, while for scientists around the globe, it is an interesting opportunity to study.
