Leonardo DiCaprio may have made history with his role as Jack Dawson in "Titanic," but he would have preferred to have starred in a completely different film.
In a recent interview, he revealed that he regrets saying "yes" to the movie "Titanic" instead of another 1997 film.
Specifically, DiCaprio was initially offered the role of Dirk Diggler in Paul Thomas Anderson's iconic drama, "Boogie Nights." However, he ultimately chose "Titanic," and the role went to Mark Wahlberg, in one of the most iconic performances of his career.

Speaking to Esquire, DiCaprio said:
"My biggest regret is not being in Boogie Nights. It was an incredible film for my generation. I can't imagine anyone else but Mark [Wahlberg] in that role. When I saw the film, I thought it was a masterpiece."
“Boogie Nights” follows the journey of Dirk Diggler, a young man who works as a stripper in a Los Angeles club and ends up becoming one of the most famous porn stars of the 1970s. The film is now considered one of the most important in American cinema.
It's worth noting that Mark Wahlberg himself later expressed his reservations about participating in the film. In 2017, he stated:
"I hope God is a cinematographer and forgives me, because I've made some bad choices in the past. 'Boogie Nights' is at the top of that list."
As for DiCaprio, he will be teaming up again with Paul Thomas Anderson in his new film "One Battle After Another," based on Thomas Pynchon's novel Vineland. The film is set to premiere on September 26.
