
Belgium on alert after drones over military bases and airports

Belgium called an emergency meeting of its National Security Council on Thursday after several drones were spotted flying over military bases and airports, causing disruptions and flight diversions from Brussels' main airport.
To address this threat, authorities are considering establishing a national center for airspace surveillance and mandatory registration of drones.
"From January 1, we will make the NASC - National Air Safety Center - operational, which will be located at the Beauvechin military base," declared Defense Minister Theo Francken.
Israel escalates airstrikes in South Lebanon

Israeli aircraft bombed several towns in southern Lebanon on Thursday after calling on residents to leave endangered areas, a marked escalation of the almost daily attacks against the country.
The airstrikes came just hours after the militant group Hezbollah urged the Lebanese government not to enter into negotiations with Israel.
According to Israeli spokesman Avichay Adraee, residents of the villages of Tayba (near the border), Teir Debba (east of the coastal city of Tyre) and Aita al-Jabal received advance warning to move about 500 meters away from the buildings that were targeted.
Hamas-linked weapons cache discovered in Vienna

Austria's domestic intelligence service has discovered an arms depot in Vienna suspected of being linked to the Palestinian militant group Hamas and which could be used for "potential terrorist attacks in Europe", the government announced on Thursday.
A 39-year-old British man, unidentified but with "close links to the weapons depot", was arrested in London on Monday, according to a Home Office statement.
"According to current investigative data, the likely target of these attacks were Israeli or Jewish institutions in Europe," the statement added.
King Charles officially strips Prince Andrew of all royal titles

Former member of the royal family, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, has finally lost his titles and the treatment "His Royal Highness", following an official decision signed by King Charles.
According to the announcement published on Wednesday in The Gazette, the United Kingdom's official public register, "The King, by Letters Patent dated 3 November 2025, has declared that Andrew Mountbatten Windsor shall no longer be entitled to bear the style, title or attribute of 'Royal Highness' nor the titular dignity of 'Prince'."
The King has also officially stripped his brother of the title of Duke of York.
