
New round of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine to take place on Wednesday
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Monday night that another round of talks between Ukraine and Russia will take place in Turkey on Wednesday.
"Today I discussed with Rustem Umerov the preparations for the prisoner exchange and the next meeting with the Russian side. Umerov reported to me that the meeting is scheduled for Wednesday," Zelensky said.
He added that more details will be made public on Tuesday.
The previous two rounds of negotiations have brought about major prisoner exchanges, but have not produced any concrete steps towards ending the Russian aggression, which has entered its fourth year.
25 countries demand end to war in Gaza and call for respect for international law
A group of 25 countries, including France, Belgium and the United Kingdom, issued a joint statement on Monday demanding an immediate end to the war in Gaza and calling on Israel to respect international humanitarian law.
"The suffering of civilians in Gaza has reached new proportions," said the foreign ministers in a statement, condemning "the slow distribution of humanitarian aid and the inhumane killings of civilians, including children, trying to secure basic needs such as water and food."
The aid distribution model followed by the Israeli government "is dangerous, fosters insecurity and denies the people of Gaza their human dignity," the statement said.
According to them, "Israel's refusal to guarantee essential humanitarian assistance to the civilian population is unacceptable."
One of the largest oil discoveries in the last decade in Poland
One of the most significant conventional oil discoveries in the last ten years was made on the Baltic Sea coast in Poland, near the port city of ?winouj?cie.
The discovery was made in the Wolin East 1 (WE1) well, just 6 kilometers from the city. According to preliminary data, the well contains about 22 million tons of oil and condensate, as well as 5 billion cubic meters of commercial-quality natural gas.
The vast concession area, which extends over 593 square kilometers, is estimated to contain over 33 million tons of oil and condensate, as well as 27 billion cubic meters of gas.
Military plane crashes into school, killing at least 20 people
A Bangladesh Air Force training plane crashed into a school in the capital Dhaka on Monday afternoon shortly after takeoff, killing the pilot and at least 19 other people, most of them students, authorities said.
A total of 171 students were rescued with injuries from the two-story building that caught fire. Many of them, burned or seriously injured, were transported by helicopter to hospital.
The Chinese F-7 BGI jet suffered a "technical fault" shortly after takeoff from the air base. The pilot attempted to divert the plane to a less populated area before crashing into the school compound, the military said in a statement.
