Netanyahu in US for Gaza ceasefire talks
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu left for the United States on Sunday to meet with US President Donald Trump, with the aim of reaching a new ceasefire agreement in the war in Gaza.
Netanyahu told reporters that Trump "can certainly help advance ceasefire efforts," adding that Israel "has never had such a friend in the White House."
He stressed that he remains determined to return the remaining hostages held by Hamas. According to him, 20 of them are still alive, while 30 have lost their lives. He also underlined Israel's main goal to destroy Hamas' military and ruling power.
Media reports say Trump has proposed an initial 60-day ceasefire deal, which includes the partial release of hostages and increased humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Despite calls from authorities not to intervene, volunteers and relatives of the missing traveled to the most affected areas to search along the river banks.
Poland reintroduces border controls with Germany and Lithuania
Poland will reintroduce border controls with Germany and Lithuania starting Monday, in response to growing criticism of Berlin's decision to turn back thousands of migrants who German authorities say had crossed into its territory illegally from Poland.
The Polish Government Security Center (RCB) announced that "checks at the border with Germany and Lithuania will begin on July 7."
Prime Minister Donald Tusk made this decision public last Tuesday during a government meeting.
"We decided to temporarily restore control at the Polish-German and Polish-Lithuanian borders," Tusk said.
