Comedian and independent candidate for the Municipality of Tirana, Florian Binaj, has reacted on social media after the Constitutional Court's decision, which left Erion Veliaj in office as mayor.
Through a post on social media, Binaj states that he will run for mayor of Tirana, whenever elections are held, emphasizing that the capital needs change.
"For me and for the citizens of Tirana, the essence remains the same: Tirana needs change.
"I will run for mayor of Tirana whenever elections are held with the same conviction, dedication and energy to serve the people with honesty, accountability and transparency."
He also emphasized that throughout the campaign he has received support from many citizens.
"This is not a race for power, but an effort for our city, to make it the home we want to leave to our children."
"The support, encouragement and trust that thousands of citizens have given me these days have convinced me that together we will succeed. Our journey continues. Nothing will stop the change that the citizens of Tirana want," Binaj writes.
The Constitutional Court overturned President Bajram Begaj's decree for new elections for the Municipality of Tirana, "cancelling" the race between Florian Binaj and Ogerta Manastirliu.
