Every second on this planet someone is inventing something new, starting a project, failing and getting back up again. The world moves at a dizzying pace, not only due to the development of technology, but also to our constant ambition for self-fulfillment.
Meanwhile, somewhere, there is a young mother, at 3:00 in the morning. With one hand she breastfeeds her little creature, while with the other she holds her phone and wonders how she can “not be left behind.” While she has been “creating a human,” her friends have been pushing their own ideas forward.
I understand clearly: the world of men and women does not rotate at the same speed.
Someone might say: “A woman who has just given birth has no reason to think about work so soon.” Well, but “who gives her a little rest”? Who expects her to return to her own time?
Does the role of a mother ever end? No.
What about time, does he give her the same chance to not lose momentum? Even less.
Motherhood is the greatest thing I have ever experienced. It has given me the strength to climb mountains because I want my daughter to have an example to follow. But an inner voice in every woman in my country asks: Is it still time? Or did I miss the train? Should I accept less success just because I started a few stations later?
Development doesn't wait for them. Success doesn't wait for them either.
On the other hand, the expectations placed on her, as a woman, as a mother, as a professional, remain unchanged. They often even increase.
Who decided that the race should start when she is still "collecting bones"? Am I alone in this internal struggle between the divinity of motherhood and the fire of keeping up with the pace of the world? I believe not.
And that's exactly why I ask myself: Who gives a woman a break?
Ps: Written by a new mom, amidst the challenges of being the perfect mom to her baby, but also responsible for her work. All this still during the 40 days, which makes me think, is this feeling I have "from hormones"?
