Emergency Chief Advice: How to treat symptoms at home & when to call

Through a Facebook video, Skender Brataj shows in detail what medications, or how to treat self-isolated people who exhibit symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat or diarrhea.

Given the current situation, going to the hospital is not the best choice. He advises citizens to call the emergency if the temperature rises, breathing problems or if they have had any history with the affected places.

"If you come from a country affected by coronavirus, or have been in Albania in contact with persons confirmed with coronavirus, you are requested to stay home for 14 days. If there is a fever, at least for 2 days, above 38.5, it is advisable to treat it with paracetamol, from 500 to 1000 milligrams, to increase is 1000 milligrams.

If you have a cough, you can use different syrups, which are used to soothe the cough. If you have a sore throat, you can use spray, propolis, mouthwash, paracetamol or brufen. You can also use vitamin complexes. Fruit juices, tea, healthy foods, fruits and vegetables.

If you have difficulty breathing, not panic, then get the number 127 to consult your doctor. If it gets worse, you may need antibiotic therapy that you can get from your family doctor. If it gets worse, get 127 and the teams will come to send you to the hospital. If you have a fever, it is one of the mistakes made by covering them with a blanket, but it means that at that point the body is raising the temperature to fight the germ in the body, we should not cover but strip and handle the temperature rise .

If the temperature is 39 or 40, we can also use lukewarm water compresses, especially in children at the foot, armpits and forehead. If you have diarrhea take loperamide, or buskopan. You should remember about the personal hygiene protocol. Keep calm, we are together. Air the environment, disinfect the furniture, wash your hands not often, use the mask if you are in a group with people. Keep distance from people. We will treat the symptoms together, but we should not say more than we have because going to the hospital can infect you, ?said Brataj.

In addition to 127, the Traffic Police Directorate has made available two new numbers where citizens can contact. The numbers are active from 22:00 yesterday and you will be able to call them until the emergency situation ends: 069 41 22 223 and 069 41 22 224
