On March 4, Switzerland will announce the name of the artist who will represent the country at Eurovision. The broadcaster Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen didn't give any details, but ardent Eurovision fans noticed (via Wiwibloggs) that a recording of compositions by Swiss songwriters recorded the song "Repondez-moi" performed by John's Tears.
John's Tears is the art name of John Muharram. John was born in Switzerland to two parents of Albanian origin, the father from Kosovo, and the mother from Tirana. Some time ago, he released a song called "Daddy" which immediately topped The Top List.
Nine years ago, John Muharremaj participated in Albania's Got Talent, thrilling Rovena Dilon and Armend Rexhepagic as they sang Lara Fabian's "Je t'aime". In February 2019, John was a participant in The Voice of France.
As for the name, in an interview for Top Awards, he stated:
?The name John's Tears or John's tears came to my mind when my grandfather came from Canada to Switzerland to hear me. One day, I was playing an electric piano playing Elvis Presley's song 'Can't help falling in love'. As I was performing this song for the first time for my grandfather, I saw him tearful and overwhelmed. I was little and thought about how music has this magic. I felt like a superhero. It seemed very strong to me what happened and so I decided to keep this name as it is an episode of my life that has affected me a lot. ?
While the song "Daddy" tells the story of a boy and a father, the latter an alcoholic.
?It's a song written in half English and half Albanian. It tells the story of a boy and a father who is an alcoholic. The boy tells him, 'Despite doing all these bad things to me, I forgive you because I love you.' This is not a personal story, so it is not dedicated to my father. I chose to do this song because I wanted to tackle a story different from mine as it was very interesting and important for me to talk about the topic of alcohol and family. ?
