Kelly Clarkson has revealed in her interview with Zane Lowe that the divorce from Brandon Blackstock has hurt her more than one might think.
"To be honest, I have not coped well with the divorce. I don't know how people go through something like this, because I can't say that I had a very good time," said the singer, who filed for divorce from her ex-husband in June 2020. She and Brandon have been married for 7 years.
Clarkson added that she cried so hard she couldn't speak. For the way she coped with this event, she blamed the "unhealthy habits" she had acquired during the marriage, stating that they also influenced the grief after the divorce.
By "unhealthy habits," Clarkson refers to the fact that she put her ex-husband's needs before her own.
"That didn't serve me very well. There are many unhealthy habits in a relationship that you think of as habits that you never noticed before," she said. Previously, Clarkson also stated that her marriage with Blackstock was "limited", as the ego entered between them.
Clarkson and Blackstock are parents to two children, River Rose, 9, and Remington, 7, and have long been embroiled in a legal battle over their custody. Today, Kelly has custody of the children and co-parents with Brandon.
