There is a psychological explanation why people are more upset in August

Let's face it, when August is gone, the end of summer is coming! There are many people who experience this transition badly as they realize that the sunny days will no longer be there, the night comes faster, the long weekends between the beach, sand and relaxation become almost impossible.

On TikTok, a character otherwise known as a comedian with the profile @dustinnickersoncomedy in a post that was made last year since last year expressed that he simply hates August with everything that this month brings.

Many people feel a kind of sadness at the end of summer, like the creator @noellemartiinez who said: "Since I was little, August has had all the bad feelings. School starts, post-holiday depression hits, the sun starts to disappear and you realize summer is over."

For all these reasons, it makes sense why many people feel strange in August, but experts say the explanation goes deeper than that.

According to Carly Harris, therapist for family programs and director of the "Newport Healthcare" center, this is all related to the last experiences of a season between beaches, vacations and happy hormones.

"Just as many people experience a sense of dread or anxiety on a Sunday night because Monday is coming, work, commitments or school, August can trigger similar feelings on a larger scale as it signals the end of a period of relaxation. and freedom," she says,

This month can also evoke nostalgic feelings and reflection on summers past, especially childhood memories, games and all things beautiful that this month holds. For these reasons, but also many others, adults tend to become more nostalgic during August, because they want more relaxation and pleasure.
