Jessica Biel will raise awareness for more parents and people in every corner of the world to talk openly about the menstrual cycle. The actress has recently published her book, "A kids book about periods" and with this she aims to help parents to start this conversation with children as early as possible, which sometimes seems difficult, but in fact it is a way for them to understand how their bodies work, while also normalizing talking about a topic that is often considered taboo: menstruation.

Along with choosing to educate people about menstruation through her book, the famous actress hopes to stop feeling shame whenever this aspect is talked about, something she has experienced herself.

Feelings of fear and shame arose when Jessica experienced her first menstrual cycle at the age of 11, one morning while performing in a school play. A story that she also shared on Instagram.

"I was scared," she recalls. "I thought I was dying. What was happening to me? I was really scared.”

As a mother of two boys, Biel has been thinking about how to open the conversation about periods with them, especially with her 9-year-old son, something that also served as motivation to write the book. "I have sons, so I often think about how I'm going to talk to them about this," she says. "I don't want the same feeling I had when I had my first period. "My sons need to know that there is nothing ugly, scary or strange about this natural cycle that happens to women," she adds.

For Biel, it's important that her sons know details about menstruation even though it doesn't directly affect them.

"If they don't have that information, they won't be able to respond compassionately to oysters going through this stage." "I want my sons to be knowledgeable and included in the conversation whenever periods are brought up."

Based on her personal example, the actress encourages as many parents as possible to do this and start honest conversations with boys and girls about the menstrual cycle.
