Forest fires in the Amazon, Brazil have hit a record high this year, an 83% increase over the same period a year earlier. The smoke from the fires has created clogs and suffocating air in S Sao Paulo on Monday, making the situation even more difficult.
The country was engulfed in total darkness that lasted for a full 1 hour. The world's largest forests are located in the Amazon and are considered a vital source of global warming. This place is also home to 3 million plants and animals and 1 million indigenous people.
Horrible fires have started during the dry season in Brazil, but since January so far there have been about 72,000. A figure that has been considered a record since 2013.
