American cultural magazine "Destig" has named the Albanian painter, Eva Belishova as "Top Artist" [Top Artist, Best of] for 2019.
The artist has managed to attract the attention of critics in California; whose works have been exhibited at San Francisco Bay Area exhibitions and galleries.
Removed since the 1990s, Albanian paintings are part of private collections in San Francisco, London and New York.
Asked in an interview where he was inspired, Belishova responded:
"Music, I hear a lot from Paul Oakenfold, Metallica, The Doors, DMX, Jimi Hendrix, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin and some others. [Likewise] Old Masters- Rembrandt, Bosch, Brueghel, Impressionist- Pissarro Klimt and Modern- De Koeing, Warhol, Rauschenberg. Also horror movies, dark subliminal. "
When he was just 10, Belishova's father, one of the country's best doctors, was arrested.
"So in the youngest age I realized what it meant to live under a dictatorial regime and learned how to cope with the humiliations, lies and corruption of a degraded state."
