R. Kelly is engaged to one of the girls suspected of being his victims. This is stated in a letter sent by her, where a more lenient punishment is requested for the sex trafficker.
"My name is Joycelyn Savage and I am the fiancee of Robert Kelly," the 26-year-old told Judge Ann Donnelly on June 13 in the letter, obtained by Page Six.
"I am writing this letter in support of Robert before his sentencing, so I can explain to the court that I am not the victim the government has made me out to be."
She said she "has a special connection" and "deep love" for the singer.
"Robert is not the monster the government has portrayed," she added. "The Robert I know is very sweet, gentle and kind. He's always made sure to take care of me, as well as every other woman he's been with."
Savage went on to praise Kelly's character, calling her an "extraordinary person" who "takes every opportunity she can to help those in need."
The aspiring singer later denied the allegations made about the R&B star, stressing that "the things that have been said about her, me and other women being held against our will are absolutely untrue."
"Robert and I are deeply in love and it breaks my heart that the government made up a story like I'm the victim," she concluded. "I'm a grown woman and I can speak for myself, that's why I wanted to give this letter to the court."
Singer R Kelly was found guilty of leading an organized crime and sex-trafficking scheme that abused black women and children. He was found guilty of nine charges, after decades of avoiding criminal responsibility.
