Invited to the show "Jo vec Kullera." on Andale Media , rapper Don Phenom did not hold back at all when he spoke about the state of the hip-hop scene in Albanian lands. Asked if rap used to be more focused on diss and clashes between artists, while now it has changed direction, Don Phenom said:
"It's a matter of commercialism and the problem is that now they've all become sisters and when their period comes, it comes to everyone together. It's a big problem because there's no competition."
But the strongest statement came when he was asked if he would collaborate with any of the three artists: Gjiko, Ledri Vula and Buta. He started with diplomacy:
"They're all good guys and they haven't done anything to me."
But then he added:
"I have a perspective on my life as a rapper. You can't be a rapper and a spy. In Albania it's OK to be a spy and a rapper, the club is full, it's no problem. Anyone who has made a statement in court cannot be a rapper. Hip-hop, no matter how commercial it is, doesn't make you that degenerate. There are many who are like that with statements in court and I don't support them. That's it."
We remind you that this is not the first time that Don Phenom has spoken out so strongly about other artists on the scene. In 2021, an Instagram story received a lot of attention when he removed Ledrin, Capital T and Gjiko from his list of followers and published this message:
"I have removed many of you from my friends list on Instagram because you are malicious, come and meet me if you want, drown everyone, there is no more diplomacy in 2021, I will publicly unmask everyone because behind the scenes I have degenerated many of you, you know very well. I am back."
However, it seems that such fiery statements are a thing of the past, as Don Phenom himself said, he no longer likes to set negative examples for his followers. Instead, a diplomatic response might be the solution! ;)
