A 7-year-old Indian boy, who sometimes complained of aching teeth, found 526 teeth inside the jaw.
Saveetha College and Dental Hospital, in Chennai, performed the surgery and successfully extracted the teeth located inside a bag located in the molar area of the lower jaw.
?The teeth were of different sizes. The smallest was 0.1mm and the largest was 3mm. had crowns, enamel and small roots, ?said Pratibha Ramani, head of the hospital's department of oral and maxillofacial pathology.
"We dug a hole in the inside of the mouth in the lower jaw and removed the sac," Raman said. "As the bag sank deeper into the tissue, the teeth were further reduced."
Although he had over 500 teeth in his mouth, the boy did not have much pain, the doctor says. ?The only thing that bothered him was a tooth that didn't explode. It caused him pain sometimes and on a daily basis a little bit. "
The 7-year-old was suffering from a benign tumor, which is unknown if it was caused by genetic or environmental factors.
This type of tumor is very rare. In 2014, doctors in Mumbai removed 232 teeth from the mouth of a 17-year-old boy after a seven-hour operation.
The operation in Chennai lasted about two hours, but it took ten days to scan all the teeth. Doctors hope to study them further through genetic analysis.
The boy, who now has 21 teeth, was allowed to go home after three days and is fine.
