Taking into account the 4,500 coronavirus sufferers and the 91 dead in France, some of the world's most luxurious brands will transition from perfume production to hand disinfectant production.
The luxury goods conglomerate LVMH, the parent company of Christian Dior, Guerlain and Givenchy, will help French authorities produce antibacterial and donate it for free.
LVMH said it will use the manufacturing facilities of perfumes and cosmetics to provide large amounts of hydroalcoholic gel, or antibacterial or disinfectant gel.
The gel will be sent to French health authorities and Assistance PUblique-Hospitaux de Paris, a network of 39 university hospitals that treats more than 8 million patients each year.
"Through this initiative LVMH aims to address the shortage of product in France and encourage a large number of people to do the right thing to protect themselves from the virus," the company said in a press release.
LVMH took this initiative after a worldwide shortage of antibacterial products. However, the best way to wash your hands is to wash them with soap and water. For antibacterial products to be effective, they must have at least 60% alcohol.
