Hormones help the body's key processes, including metabolism and reproduction. When you suffer from hormonal imbalance (disorder) it means that you have more (or less) of a certain type of hormone. Even the smallest changes can cause various consequences in the body. Think of them as a cooking recipe. More or less of the given ingredient will affect the final product.
As with anything else hormonal disorder, the body gives its signs. How do you know if your hormones are out of balance?
Are you tired
Fatigue is one of the most irritating symptoms for a doctor, as there can be many causes. If you are tired after a week of exams or part-time work, then you are fine. But if you are constantly tired, if you notice weight gain and fluctuating appetite, you may suffer from a decreased thyroid activity. Fatigue happens to everyone, but if yours is illogical, then a visit to the doctor would be good.
Skin changes
You have acne again. They may be the cause of not washing your face before going to bed for several nights in a row, but they may also indicate something else. Acne in adults indicates high testosterone levels. Your doctor will recommend medications to regulate hormone levels and cleanse the face.
Hair growth
We are talking about a very fast growth. If you have a beard for a month or if you see dark hair growing on your chest, arms or back, there is something wrong with your hormones.
Strange periods
Like fatigue, changes in the menstrual cycle have many factors such as fatigue, low estrogen levels or polycystic ovary syndrome.
Sweating at night
Sweating at night (in a cool room) can be a sign of low estrogen levels and infrequent ovulation, otherwise called perimenopause. It occurs 10 years before you go through menopause. If you want to know if you are going through an early menopause (at age 40), consult your doctor.
