Cristiano Ronaldo opened up about his children when he and partner Georgina Rodriguez lost their son after birth. When the couple brought home the late baby's twin sister Bella, the children had questions, the footballer told journalist Piers Morgan in an interview.
"The kids started saying, 'Where's the other baby, where's the other baby?…Mommy, where's the other baby?' Ronaldo said. "After a week I [said], 'Let's be honest with the kids. Let's tell them that Ángel, that's his name, went to heaven," he added.
Cristiano Jr., 12, and his siblings - Alana, Eva and Mateo - now realize their little brother has passed away. "They say, 'Dad, I made this for Ángel,' and they point it to the sky," he explained. "Which I really like because he is part of their lives. I don't lie to my children, I tell them the truth, which was a difficult process."
He considered that moment "the worst in his life" since his father's death in 2005.
In April 2022, Cristiano and Georgina announced that they lost one of their twins; the baby died during birth, while the girl was healthy thanks to the help of doctors.
Ronaldo is the father of five children, three of whom were born to two surrogate mothers: Cristiano Jr., twins Eva and Mateo, toddler Alana Martina and baby Bella Esmeralda. The mother of these last two is Georgina.
