When a penguin is in love, the way to his lover's heart is simple: a pebble. These flightless species give each other pebbles that are used to build nests and this is a signal that they are interested in mating.
But what does all this have to do with real-life couples? Apparently, the penguins of Antarctica are bringing a trend known as "pebbling" that is becoming very widespread among boys and girls who have feelings for each other but are reluctant to express them.
How does this method work?
One of the partners, "immersed" in the sea of ??emotions, gives him/her some kind of gift that can be a cup of coffee, a key ring or start a viral video to brighten his/her day, but which is also a signal that he/she has feelings for you.
"Pebbling started with sending these things, or even a photo or a video to connect with people," says relationship expert Gigi Engle. "I think it's the cutest thing that can happen between two people, as opposed to love languages ??circulating through electronic devices."
It may seem like a passing thing, but the act of sending someone something to laugh about, be it a photo or a video, can strengthen a relationship because it's similar to sending a message saying, "I saw this and thought for you!"
"Pebbling can be a really good way to banter and bond with a partner," she added. But if the videos and posts or token gifts suddenly stop, it could signal that interest has simply been lost. "This method has the potential to set the communication expectations you'll have throughout your relationship, so that's a detail to keep in mind," says Engle.
