Brad Pitt is becoming more honest than ever about his journey to recovery from alcohol addiction.
The Oscar-winning actor spoke on the "Armchair Expert" podcast with Dax Shepard, where for more than two hours he openly confessed about his struggle with alcohol addiction, after a period that he describes as a "deep emotional shock."
"At that point I was on my knees. It was a very difficult time. I was accepting everything, I was trying everything. I needed a 'restart'. I needed to wake up, damn it," he said.
When he decided to join a support group, the beginnings weren't easy. "I'm kind of shy in new situations," Brad admits. But after a friend assured him that it was a safe environment, he started to feel comfortable and open up. "It became something I looked forward to."
Part of the healing process for him was hearing the stories of the other men in the group, which he describes as deeply moving and filled with empathy, mistakes, but also humor. “It was a very special experience,” the actor said.
Pitt has previously spoken out about his decision to enter rehab after his split from Angelina Jolie in 2016. In a 2019 interview with the New York Times, he described the divorce as the "wake-up call" he needed to stop drinking.
