Britney Spears's father, Jamie Spears, has agreed to resign from his role as caretaker of Britney's estate after 13 years, a decision which the pop star's lawyer considered a major victory.
"We are delighted that Spears and his attorney have today admitted in a dossier that he should be removed," the singer's attorney, Mathew Rosengart, said in a statement.
Jamie Spears, who has controlled Britney's life, from finances to lifestyle since her mental health problems in 2008, agreed to withdraw in documents filed Thursday in court.
Rosengart added that this decision is "a step towards justice".

Britney Spears will be under the care of professional Jodi Montgomery, who manages her personal and medical affairs. The nature of the latter has never been made public.
Britney spoke publicly in June and July against court-appointed custody, calling her humiliating and abusive and accusing her father of ruining her life. Spears has not performed since 2018 and has stressed that she will not return to the stage if her father is in control of her career.
