Want to travel the world for free? Yes, this is possible in Austria, but only under one condition! You have to get a tattoo with the name of the ticket - KlimaTicket.
Klimaticket, which means climate ticket, aims to reduce the individual transport of motor vehicles to bring the country as close as possible to the climate change targets under the Paris Agreement.
The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) said road transport is the biggest source of carbon emissions and the country aims to reduce private car use by 16% by 2024.
KlimaTicket on Instagram promoted this initiative during the "Electric Love" music festival. The government set up several tattoo shops offering those interested a chance to travel for free for a year if they get a tattoo that reads "Klimaticket".
Austria's climate minister, Leonore Geëessler, supported the campaign by attending the festival and getting a fake tattoo.
