The 11-year-old Alvin case shocked public opinion as soon as it aired on Le Iene. Fortunately, after five years of searching, Alvin was found, though not in good health. As you may have seen, the horrors of the war in Syria are clearly reflected in his mental and physical condition. If that were not enough, people are shocked by the lack of reaction of the Albanian authorities in Turkey.
Alvin is in a Syrian camp, mostly filled with Kurds who are considered terrorists by both ISIS extremists and Turkey. (Kurdisani tried to oppose the Islamic State, but after Donald Trump said there was no alliance between the US and the Kurds, the latter were declared terrorists by Turkey and have been bombing for a while now).
Le Iene journalist Luigi Pelazza contacted Albanian ambassador to Turkey Genti Gazheli, who initially said he was ready to help little Alvin. We add that the 11-year-old, although born and raised in Italy, has Albanian citizenship, which means the Italian state cannot intervene to help. From the camp where he lives in difficult conditions, Alvin can only be extracted from Albanian delegates.
Later, when Pelazza tries to contact Gazhel again, the latter hangs up the phone.
Soon after, people broke into the ambassador's Facebook. "Shame on having to leave an abandoned child at the mercy of fate," someone writes. "Did you say anything about that Alvin case?" Another wrote. ?Why do you eliminate posts by deleting comments? Or is your job as an ambassador to delete comments rather than face a problem that is within your competence? ?Adds another.
So far, there has been no reaction from Gazhel except for the phone shutting down.
Other followers point to the lack of local authorities to rescue Albanian children left in Syrian camps that are nothing more than victims of parental elections.
