The mass arrival of fans for the sensation: Are we endangered by the monkeys

Since yesterday, thousands of Italian and Dutch tourists have arrived in Tirana, to watch live the grand final of the Conference League between Rome and Feyenoord.

Beyond any incident, consequence and economic or social effect that their arrival has on the country, another concern is: the release of monkeys, the virus that is currently bothering Europe and the whole world. So far no such case has been confirmed in our country, but do we risk being brought in by foreign fans?

Massimo Andreoni, director of the complex infectious diseases operating unit at the Tor Vergata Polyclinic in Rome and scientific director of the Italian Association of Infectious and Tropical Diseases, has stated that Covid-19 has more risk than the apes.

"It is easier for tens of thousands of people, including Italian and Dutch fans, to exchange a little Covid than monkey line. "I find it difficult to create an outbreak, in Albania there are no cases of smallpox and in Italy there are very few." - he continues, emphasizing that the risk is very high for the spread of coronavirus.
