Rapper Asdren Gjikolli - known to the public by his stage name Gjiko - has been declared innocent by the Basic Court of Pristina in connection with the abuse charge, which was at the center of media attention several years ago.
The decision was made after a court process that included reviewing the evidence presented by the prosecution and defense. According to reliable sources of the Telegraph, the panel concluded that the evidence was insufficient to connect the artist to the charges brought against him, leading to his acquittal on all counts of the indictment.
In March 2022, several media outlets reported that Gjiko had been charged with serious abuse of a 15-year-old minor. According to the alleged lawsuit at the time, the rapper was suspected of having deceived the girl with promises of a musical career, and then having used narcotic substances and having sexual relations with her.
The news spread rapidly on social networks and the media, causing strong reactions in the public and putting pressure on the rapper's public image. However, immediately after the allegations were published, Gjiko categorically denied all accusations.
In a statement published on social media at the time, he wrote :
"Dear family and friends,
During these days, my family and I are facing a fabricated untruth. I have not raped anyone, let alone a 15-year-old. I have not deceived nor have I promised a career, nor have I given a minor narcotic substances. My family is very okay because they know that this is fabricated."
He also announced that he had taken legal steps against defamation, emphasizing that he believed in the justice of institutions.
