The accident of the former resident of "BBVA 3" Meriton Mjekiqi has been news in various media in Kosovo and Albania today. After being told that his health condition is critical, journalist Miliam Zeka reacted through a video on Instagram where he denied the health problems of Mjekiqi, while admitting that they had been in the same car when the accident happened on the highway leading to Pristina.

But, just a few minutes ago, the former resident's partner, journalist Ilnisa ??Agolli, also reacted, where through a post on Instastory she rejected all the news and according to her, everything is untrue.

"Within the current legislation in Albania, it is important to note that the laws in force foresee sanctions for spreading false information, including defamation and incitement to hatred. Based on *Article 120 of the Criminal Code*, defamation or the intentional dissemination of false information, with the aim of damaging an individual's reputation, constitutes a criminal offense and is punishable.

Ilnisa ??adds that the widespread news is untrue and has caused quite a bit of concern for her and Meriton's family members.

"Recently, a false news has spread in some media, causing considerable concern. This action is not only contrary to the principles of journalistic ethics and requirements for objectivity, but also violates the laws in force, which aim to protect citizens from misinformation.

The relevant institutions, including the * Audiovisual Media Authority (AMA) *, should take responsibility for monitoring and enforcing these laws. This means that all media platforms that spread false news must bear legal responsibility and take measures to prevent fake news from becoming part of the public discourse."

The former resident of "BBVA 3" demands from the institutions a public reaction and the taking of concrete and legal measures against the media that spread the news.

"In this context, we request that independent media institutions respect the standards of fair information and ensure that the published news is accurate and verified. Only in this way can we preserve the integrity of the media and protect citizens from influence harmful fake news," writes the former BBV resident," she closes the post," she says.
