A 16-year-old teenager named Aiden Fucci has been sentenced to life in prison after stabbing 13-year-old Tristyn Bailey 114 times.
Before the start of the trial, in February, the 16-year-old was found guilty of first-degree murder. The event took place in 2021, on May 9, at the victim's home, when Aiden was only 14 years old. He then hid Tristyn's body in a forest.
Fucci received the maximum sentence and the victim's mother, Stacy Bailey, said: “Aiden Fucci made a terrible decision on May 9, 2021 and took the life of the person I brought into this world. Please don't think he can be rehabilitated. He has no escape."
For Fucci, the sentence could have been death, but thanks to his young age, he was sentenced to life in prison. Meanwhile, the event has shocked all of Florida, and the judge of the case, Lee Smith, said: "This is probably one of the most difficult and shocking cases that we have faced."
But how did the murder happen?
Tristyn was found dead on May 9, 2021, after her parents reported her as a missing person. She was found murdered and her body had 114 stab wounds. 49/114 blows had caused wounds to her hands, arms and head, which means that the girl had tried to defend herself.
The boy was arrested 1 day later, after he posted a selfie on social networks with the peace symbol, in the caption of which he said: "Hey, has anyone seen Tristyn lately?".
According to reports, Fucci committed the murder with a clear conscience. Blood stains were found on his clothes and the knife with which he is thought to have stabbed the girl. Days before he killed the 13-year-old, Fucci reportedly told his girlfriend that he was planning to kill someone, although he had not yet found the victim.
At the trial, it was requested that the sentence be reduced, as the boy had mental and physical problems. In a video shot in the jail cells, Fucci was heard talking about demons and saying, “Please don't let the demons take my soul. They will take my soul." Then, he asked: "What's going on?! Why am I here? I want to talk to mom and dad. What's happening?".
Fucci also wrote a letter to the victim's family, apologizing for the pain caused. "I'm sorry for the pain I've caused the Bailey family. (I say) sorry to friends, brothers, sisters, mom, dad and every family member. I'm sorry that you didn't get to know him for longer," he said.
