September is often said to be like January, i.e. the beginning of the year! Back to school for the kids, back to work after the holidays or all personal commitments, makes people take a critical look at themselves.

But beyond the personal approach, there are some bad habits that seem to get in the way of your daily life and therefore your happiness. Experts give their explanations!

#1 Constant negative thoughts

Negative moments often come back, during a conversation with others or with themselves, and people should know that this situation just makes them more obsessed. The result? You live with the past and do not enjoy the pleasures of the present. According to lecturer Susan Nolen-Hoeksema, most young people join yoga or meditation groups just to get negative thoughts out of their heads.

#2 The sense of toxic perfection

Under the guise of a constant pursuit of happiness, perfectionism greatly affects our lives. "We are immersed in a culture of 'obligatory happiness' that urges us to be perfect in all areas," explains psychologist Frédéric Fanget. To avoid this bad habit, he suggests setting priorities and giving yourself permission to be imperfect.

#3 Ignoring the biological rhythm

Understanding your internal clock helps regulate aspects such as hormones, sleep and energy levels. Psychiatrist Marine Colombel says that: "Few physiological functions escape the control of our internal clock, and by going against that you disrupt part of the way your body works."

#4 Accepting toxic relationships

How can you focus on a healthy lifestyle if you're in a toxic relationship? A toxic environment conditions all our daily lives. You can let yourself be "poisoned" and develop bad habits in love relationships, but the longer these last, the more they oppress you.

#5 Being a chronic checker

Amidst the chaos of the outside world and the everyday, the only thing we often feel in control of is ourselves. Trying to manage everything turns into a bad habit, almost inhibiting your functioning and happiness.

#6 You don't set boundaries

The fear of losing a relationship or job are all part of the fears that people live with every day. But if you have this kind of approach that leads to more worry, stress or frustration, these are all arguments to set boundaries and come to terms with yourself and your way of doing things.

#7 Lack of courage

We are not talking about excessive courage for wrong behavior or thoughts, but about a kind of courage to face thoughts and everyday life with great determination. Therefore, courage should not be missing in the family, at work, in society and everywhere, if you want to be happy.
