6 mistakes parents should avoid now that kids are back at school

6 mistakes parents should avoid now that kids are back at school

1. Don't be too emotional on the first day of school

In general, when children return to school after the super summer and vacations they had, they start crying and show different emotions. They don't want to be separated from their parents, they find it difficult to separate from them as it is the place where they find 100% security. However, they are not the only ones - at such moments parents become even more emotional just by the idea of ??having to leave their little ones alone. That being said, it is common to see mothers and children crying together in the school yard.

What you need to do is to control your stress and anxiety level in order to provide peace of mind to your children. Seeing the behavior you do, they will start imitating you. Save the tears and emotions for later and send them on with a smile.

2. You don't help children with homework or time management

Teaching children to be independent is very important, but it takes time and constant effort to make it happen. For starters, they need your constant supervision and help to manage their time and schoolwork. If they have been asked to complete a project within a few days, you should pay attention to how they manage time and how they prepare. Keep them "over your head" until you notice that they are aware of the obligations and responsibilities that are assigned to you.

3. Project your fears onto your children

Your concern as a parent is very normal and understandable, but if the measure goes unintended you become selfish. It is very important that your fears are not transmitted to the little ones because this affects their relationship with classmates, their performance at school, etc. They also carry and charge with your concern, so be careful.

4. Not to buy the school supplies they need

Sometimes parents think they know exactly what their children need for school. This may not appeal to the child at all as an idea, who wants and needs other things. To make the child confident in his performance and presence at school, take it with you and consult before buying school supplies.

5. Do not "overload" children with activities

The mistake that parents inadvertently make is thinking that by increasing the number of activities they will become better people. Remember that endless courses or different classes can overload children to the point that they no longer enjoy it. Do not interfere with their free time, let them be children. Let them know the priorities, but let them play and interact with each other.

6. Do not speak ill of the school staff in front of them

Teachers and parents don't always agree on everything, which can create frustration. However, the most inappropriate thing you can do is talk bad about teachers in front of children. Children should be able to make their own judgments and form their own opinions without being influenced by you.
