5 myths and facts about pregnancy that every woman should know

Pregnancy is one of the most exciting moments, as well as a period of dramatic change both physically and psychologically. This period seems like everyone wants to "give you a hint" and various tips (especially in the first pregnancy) when in fact every experience and journey is different from someone else.

An obstetrician-gynecologist for more than 25 years in the US, Dr. A. Michael Coppa, has given these 5 myths and facts about each of them, however, the right thing to do is to consult the doctor who follows your pregnancy because as mentioned above, every journey is different.

1. MIT: Morning worries go away around noon (these are feelings of tiredness, nausea and vomiting in the early stages of pregnancy).

FACT: These sensations and symptoms are very normal and certainly do not have a set schedule, so there is no reason to worry unless they go away after the first 3 months.

2. MIT: It is dangerous to do physical activity, exercise, run or yoga during pregnancy because it can damage the embryo or fetus (unborn baby).

FACT: Doctors have suggested and will continue to suggest that pregnant women have a life of activity from low to medium (of course if you have no complications), because it helps in a simpler and healthier birth.

3. MIT: You should give up caffeine for 9 months.

FACT: Coffee can also be enjoyed during pregnancy, but certainly without overdoing it - a maximum of one cup a day. The products that should definitely be avoided, as they are known, are cigarettes, alcohol and raw foods.

MYTH 4: A pregnant woman should eat enough for two people.

FACT: Of course, the consumption of high-calorie foods should be increased, but without overdoing it because it can have a detrimental effect (in addition to weight gain) for the mother and the fetus.

5. MIT: Sexual intercourse cannot be performed.

FACT: Sex during pregnancy is not dangerous according to doctors, except in cases where the mother has problems with the placenta, cervix or other health problems detected during previous visits.
