5 common activities that make you feel good even if you don't realize it

Dopamine is one of the four hormones responsible for positive feelings in the brain. Basically, it helps you feel happy. What you may not know is that your body releases it with certain activities and behaviors – many of which you already do every day. But what are common activities that release dopamine naturally?

Food 

Our ancestors knew how necessary food is for survival, and in part because it affects the activation of dopamine. This is still valid today. Being able to find food and consume it enters the process of survival and of course well-being. Both of these release dopamine. Some studies even say that eating results in a double release of dopamine: first when you are eating food and second when the food is deposited in the stomach. 

To drink water

A glass of water gives you a feeling of freedom, it seems like a reward for the body, so it's no wonder that drinking water releases dopamine. However, this only happens when you need water and are thirsty - such as after a hot day or strenuous physical activity.

Video games

Numerous studies have concluded that playing video games helps release dopamine into the brain for a good portion of people. While this is a positive, it can easily turn into a negative if you become obsessed with these games and forget about tasks that should be a priority.

To have sex

Sex also causes the release of endorphins in addition to dopamine. Our brains tend to know that sex is important for survival, and neurons that release dopamine do so when they get the sensation of "reward" associated with the act.

Meditation

Meditation and all other activities related to the inner being lead to the release of dopamine. Engaging in yoga, physical activity, meditation or other hobbies helps with internal as well as external well-being.
