20 questions to understand the danger signs in your relationship

Relationships are often seen as the main source of happiness and emotional support, but when feelings overtake logic, it can become difficult to tell if something is going wrong. We've all heard that every relationship has its ups and downs, but there are some signs that shouldn't be taken lightly. Sometimes, the way we grew up and the environments we came from make us see as "normal" some things that are not at all like that. And so, without realizing it, we can end up in a relationship where the red flags are everywhere, but we just decide to see them as "decor".

To help you on this journey of reflection, here are 20 questions that will help you figure out if you're experiencing a healthy relationship or if it's time to think more about yourself.

1. Do you feel that you have the right independence in your relationship?
2. Can you meet friends and family without restrictions?
3. Are you free to discuss anything with your close people?
4. Does your partner influence what you say or don't say to others?
5. Does your partner get nervous when you want to go out alone?
6. Do you feel anxious or afraid when you need to discuss an issue that worries you?
7. Are there topics that you cannot discuss with your partner?
8. Does your partner show threatening signs?
9. Be given privacy instructions?
10. Does your partner punish you with "psychological violence" until you do as you want?
11. Do you feel pressured to have sex so that you feel powerless to say "no"?
12. Is your decision respected when you don't want sex, or does it make you feel bad?
13. Does he give you comments or make comparisons about the appearance of the body?
14. Are finances controlled without transparency and do you feel limited about spending?
15. Does your partner tell you what to wear?
16. Are insults part of your daily communication?
17. Do you feel bad when you earn more money than your partner?
18. Have you felt manipulated by doubting your thoughts and reality?
19. Is your partner close and supportive in difficult moments?
20. Is there any form of verbal or physical violence in the relationship?

If some of these questions make you feel uneasy, stop and reflect. Healthy relationships take effort, but they don't have to make you constantly unhappy. Don't let the relationship make you feel scared or controlled. If something seems wrong, it's time to think again. A good relationship is one that improves your life, not the other way around.
