But Dan Witters, director of research at Gallup National Health and Well-Being, says he's done a lot of research to understand what the hallmarks are that unite happy people in every corner of the world. According to Dan, happiness emerges from a set of factors related to lifestyle, habits and everyday life.

#1 Manage your finances well and live within your means. You have enough money to do whatever you want
#2 You consistently set goals and achieve them
#3 Always make time for trips or vacations with family and friends
#4 Use your strengths to do what you know best every day
#5 Feel safe in your community
#6 Learn something new or interesting every day
#7 You have someone in your life who encourages you to be healthy
#8 Eat well every day
#9 Eat five servings of fruits and vegetables at least four times a week
#10 You go to the dentist at least once a year
#11 In the last 12 months, have you taken initiatives to improve or invest in the area where you live
#12 You don't smoke
#13 You have normal weight and good metabolism
#14 Exercise at least 30 minutes three times a week
#15 You are active and productive every day
