The official trailer for "Wicked: For Good," the second part of the film adaptation of the legendary Broadway musical, directed by Jon M. Chu, has been released.
Oscar-nominated actresses Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda return to continue the story of magic, friendship and the clash between good and evil in the Land of Oz. The film is set to hit theaters on November 21.
In this new chapter, Elphaba, known as the Wicked Witch of the West, lives in the forest as she continues her battle to free the Silent Beasts of Oz and uncover the truth about the Wizard, played by Jeff Goldblum.
On the other hand, Glinda has become a symbol of goodness in the Land of Oz. She lives in the palace of the Emerald City and enjoys the privileges that come with her popularity. Under the guidance of Madame Morrible (played by Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh), Glinda takes on a new role, that of the voice who calms the inhabitants and convinces them that all is well under the Wizard's rule.
In addition to Erivo, Grande and Goldblum, the film also brings to the screen other well-known names such as Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, Kayla Settle and Marissa Bode.
The first installment, “Wicked,” premiered in November of last year to critical and commercial acclaim. With over $756 million in global grosses, it became the highest-grossing musical of all time and the third-highest-grossing film in Universal’s history. The film also received 10 Academy Award nominations and won two.
