In a recent interview with The New York Times , on the podcast series "The Interview," Miley Cyrus spoke openly about her attitude towards motherhood and the reasons why she doesn't see herself as a mother, at least for now.
“My stepfather asked me one day, ‘Why are you the only one who doesn’t have your own makeup line?’ And I said, ‘Because it’s not my passion.’ He said, ‘That’s the right answer.’
I feel the same way about motherhood. It's never been something that has particularly excited me. It brings a lot of responsibility, it takes dedication and energy.
And if you don't really get excited about it, I don't know how you can cope with the sleepless nights and everything my mom has been through for 18 years.
"In fact, when I say 18 years, I actually mean 33, because I still feel like a child. I just never felt this emotion (the desire to have children)."
This stance of hers is not unknown. In a previous interview in 2020, the singer said:
"I don't judge anyone who wants to have children. It's just, for me personally, it's not my priority at this stage of life."
In other words, Miley Cyrus is a woman like many others who, in interviews and beyond, is asked why she hasn't had children yet. In fact, such a decision is very personal, so people should avoid such questions and understand that no one should be judged or advised in this regard.
And yes, there are women who don't want to have children. As long as it's their choice, it shouldn't be anyone's problem.
