Artan Lame passes away at the age of 58

Artan Lame has passed away at the age of 58. It is learned that Lame passed away in Munich where he had gone for a heart surgery. As reported by the media, he lost his life after coming out of a coma.

He headed the Agency for Legalization, Urbanization and Integration of Informal Areas (ALUIZNI) for several years and held other state positions in the Socialist Party government. He was also active in politics and ran as a deputy in the parliamentary elections of 2005, 2009 and 2013.

From 1999-2000, he was Director of Cultural Heritage at the Ministry of Culture. Also, from 2000-2002, he held the position of Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Tirana.

In addition to his political activity, Artan Lame was known for his passion for Albanian history, cultural heritage, and the protection of objects of national importance. As a publicist and opinion writer, he often contributed with well-argued writings and positions on issues affecting the identity and collective memory of Albanians.

He was born in Tirana in 1967. His passing has left behind pain for his family, friends and colleagues. Condolences to the family!
