Pop icon Madonna has decided to pay tribute to her late mother with a look inspired by her. The 66-year-old singer posted a few photos on Instagram, showing off her dark brown curly hair, just like her mother, Madonna Louise.

In one of the photos, Madonna appears with a short, dark hairstyle, possibly a wig, while posing with her head slightly turned to the side.

"I missed my mom," she wrote.

Madonna's mother died of breast cancer in 1963, when she was just 30 years old. Madonna was five years old at the time. Her parents had five children together, including the singer's older brother, Anthony, who died in February 2023. After his wife's death, her father, Silvio Ciccone, married the housekeeper, Joan.

In a 1985 interview with Time magazine, Madonna spoke about the pain she felt as a child:

"I knew she had been ill with breast cancer for a long time, she was very weak, but she still tried to continue her life. She was very fragile."

In the documentary "Becoming Madonna," broadcast in January, she described the loss of her mother as a moment that devastated her emotionally:

"It was like a piece of my heart was ripped out. I was forced to grow up prematurely, to realize that she was gone, to deal with the pain. It was too much for a child."
