US President Donald Trump has said that talks on a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine will begin "immediately", following a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In a social media post, Trump said the conversation "went very well" and that "Russia wants to do business with the United States once this catastrophic bloodshed is over."

"I have just informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Finnish President Alexander Stubb about the results of my conversation with Putin.

"The Vatican, represented by the Pope, has expressed interest in negotiations. Let the process begin!" Trump wrote.

Fake Turkish ad urges Indian tourists to ignore boycott

News in a few minutes: What's happening in the world

A fake announcement, purportedly issued by the Turkish government, is circulating on social media, urging Indian tourists not to cancel or postpone trips to Turkey, despite tensions between India and Pakistan.

The ad says that most Turkish people are unaware of the conflict between India and Pakistan, and that Indians are still welcome. The ad also says that they will be safe while staying in Turkey.

This announcement is being made against the backdrop of a call for a boycott of Turkey by India, which includes a ban on tourist travel, and the severance of trade and academic relations, following Ankara's swift support for Islamabad in the conflict between the two countries.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez made a strong statement on May 19, calling for Israel to be excluded from the Eurovision Song Contest in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

"The Palestinian people are experiencing the absurdity of war and bombing. We cannot have double standards in culture," Sánchez said.

He recalled previous precedents, citing the case of Russia's exclusion after the invasion of Ukraine, and emphasized that "if Russia was excluded, then Israel should not participate either."
