Jennifer Lopez has had a bit of a rough year in terms of love and her children know it very well. The 55-year-old singer, in an interview with "El País", revealed, among other things, that she went through a challenging period and shared how she told her 17-year-old children, Emme and Max, that she was divorcing Ben Affleck.
"I told them: I know it's a difficult time, but you'll see that I will get through it and come out stronger and in better shape. I made a promise to them and I kept it. They feel that now. It gives me a great sense of peace in my life," said J.Lo.
Although she canceled the tour and broke up with the actor, she showed that she now feels better spiritually.
"I'm happier that I've taken a step forward compared to a year ago, two or three years ago... I'm proud of myself for making it and I'm proud that I was able to lead my children through difficult times and they are stronger. So, it's a great time to go out, dance, sing and have a good time," said the singer, indicating that she is ready for the next tour.
Affleck and Lopez married in July 2022, and the singer filed for divorce in August 2024. They finalized their divorce in January and were officially single on February 21.
Although the couple is no longer together, their families are still close. In April, Lopez's twins, Emme and Max, joined Ben and his children — Samuel, 13, Seraphina, 16, and Violet, 19 — at the premiere of his new film "The Accountant 2."
"It was a great evening. My kids are here, Jen's kids are here. I'm so excited," Affleck told ET, adding: "I'm proud of the movie, I love it, and I love it when all the kids come out together. It's really fun and exciting."
