Orthodox and Catholic believers celebrate Easter
Orthodox and Catholic believers celebrated Easter around the world. This day is considered the most important holiday in the Christian liturgical calendar. This year, as is rare, the holiday fell on the same day for both Catholic and Orthodox Christians, for the first time since 2017.
Easter was welcomed with celebration in Europe, with many major capitals hosting various religious festivals. At the Vatican, Pope Francis made a tour on Easter Sunday to bless thousands of people in St. Peter's Square.
Zelensky: "Russian attacks continued despite Easter ceasefire"
Moscow continued its attacks on Saturday night and early Sunday, despite Russian President Vladimir Putin's announcement of a 30-hour ceasefire over Easter, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
"Since Easter morning, the Russian military has been trying to create a general impression of a ceasefire, but in some places, it does not abandon military efforts to advance and inflict losses in Ukraine."
The Russian Defense Ministry responded, stating that Ukrainian forces had done the same thing.
Another scandal in the US: Secretary of Defense shared war plans in Yemen with his wife and brother
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth shared detailed plans for a military operation against the Houthis in Yemen in a Signal chat on his personal phone. The group included his wife, lawyer and brother.
None of them hold positions in the Pentagon, are not part of the Department of Defense, and, therefore, should not have access to such sensitive information for US national security.
The scandal comes some time after Dan Caldwell and Darin Selnick, two senior advisers and people close to Hegseth, were suspended and fired last week by the Pentagon after being accused of "unauthorized dissemination of information."
Protest in London against transgender decision
Thousands of protesters gathered in London's Parliament Square on Saturday, days after the UK's Supreme Court ruled that a woman will only be considered a woman born biologically as such (female), thus excluding transgender women from the legal definition.
With concerns over transgender rights, protesters gathered for an "urgent demonstration," with activists holding banners with slogans such as "trans women are women."
"I am disappointed, because I thought we lived in a society that seems so progressive, but is willing to make such a dangerous and harmful decision," said one activist.
