Selena Gomez seems to have only recently been ready to accept Benny Blanco as her partner.
In a joint interview with Interview magazine, the Disney Channel star and her fiancé talked about their relationship, how they met, and shared details about her engagement ring.
When asked for relationship advice, Gomez said she didn't think "life had ever been kind to her," except for Blanco's arrival in her life. "My perspective on it, in a simplistic way, is that I actually feel appreciated. I feel seen. I feel respected. And I think that's all I ever wanted."

Gomez continued: "I was kind of alone in the world. I was single for five years before we got together and I think that really helped me appreciate someone like Benny."
"He's surprised when I say this, but honestly, 10 years ago, I wasn't at a time in my life where I could have accepted the kind of patience, the kind of unconditional love that he gives me," she explained.
Meanwhile, Blanco spoke about the importance of listening to your partner. "Happy wife, happy life," he said.
Gomez and Blanco - who met in 2013 through Gomez's mother, Mandy Teefey - began their relationship in 2023. They announced their engagement in December 2024.

On Thursday, February 13, the couple announced a musical collaboration. “I Said I Love You First,” the first album they’ve made together, is set to be released on March 21. The first single from the album, “Scared of Loving You,” is now available to stream.
